Kawabiki
The 2026 Kawabiki, part of the first Okihiki timber-hauling rites, completed its final day on August 2. Our thanks to the Furuichi hauling group and to everyone who joined us. The second Okihiki rites take place in 2027, and Tokiwakai aims to take part again.
2026
The 2026 Kawabiki
Kawabiki is the river-hauling of sacred timber for the new shrine buildings of the Shikinen Sengu, drawn up the Isuzu River to the Inner Shrine. It is a festival carried by the people of the former shrine domains — not something anyone can simply walk into.
On August 2, 2026, through the generosity of the Furuichi hauling group, Tokiwakai members, students among them, hauled the rope as part of the group, following the Hassaku shrine visit on August 1.
2027
2027: the second Okihiki
At the previous Sengu as well, the Okihiki rites spanned two years. The schedule for the second Okihiki has already been announced by the Ise Sengu Committee.

In consultation with the hauling groups, Tokiwakai aims to create the opportunity to take part again next year. Recruitment details — format, numbers, dates — will be announced in the news on this site and on our official LINE as soon as they are set.
Students can join Tokiwakai free of charge through the student-organization affiliation program and take part in rites like these.About student affiliation
